Priests, theologians and lawyers say protecting the privilege between priest and penitent in the confessional is a religious freedom issue.

  1. The confessional is a holy sacrament- it is a gift from God,Devine- not a means by which the state can monitor the priests or the people. Priests need absolution as well as the laity.

  2. Disgusting.

Jesus was known for yelling at zealots who followed all these rules. He did so in the temple and told everyone to leave the temple and throw tables over or cursed depending on the bible you read.

You mean to tell me the man who said defend the weak, meek, the lonely, the rejected… but be silent when someone confesses about absuing a child?

Let me ask any priest this. If someone came in and confessed to you about killing priests. Would you stay silent?

Would you sit there with a dumb look on your face and take the abuse of how “remoresful he was” about killing priests? I have a feeling many of you would not because I’ve already seen priests break that when people talk about planning future murders and confessing about them in church.

  3. One exception I would make is if its a prist, bishop or cardinal confesing these sins to another prist… 😳
